Please join us in welcoming our new Artistic Direc Please join us in welcoming our new Artistic Director Lucas Marchand to the SONG family! As a long time performer and educator, Lucas brings a unique perspective and experience to music education that aligns with the work that SONG has been doing in our community for the last decade. Here are a few highlights from his musical journey.

2 - Originally from Victoria, BC, Lucas has been singing on the stage since he was three years old.

3 - In 2005 he moved to Toronto where began singing tenor with the Nathaniel Dett Chorale and remained performing with them for six seasons. During his tenure, The Chorale had the distinction of being chosen to represent Canada by performing at Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration in Washington DC.

4 5 6 - Lucas joined Canada's premier a cappella group, Cadence in 2011 where he remained singing with the group until it was disbanded due to COVID in 2020. During that time Cadence was featured in many international festivals and concerts including the Chinese International Chorus Festival, Polyfolia, and A CappellaStock. They also performed with many acclaimed artists like Bobby McFerrin, David Clayton-Thomas, Take 6, and Jay Leno to name a few.

7 - Until joining SONG he spent the last 12 years directing multiple ensembles at the Regent Park School of Music (now Community Music Schools of Toronto), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free programming in priority Toronto neighbourhoods.

We look forward to working with Lucas to continue providing fun, free music programming across Northumberland county and we're excited to see what new programs, projects, and possibilities he brings to the table.
