Out of programs across the country, SONG was chosen as part of a select group of organizations receiving funding through the SiriusXM Soundwaves MusiCounts Community Fund — a $500,000 national investment in music programs supporting youth facing barriers. 💥 SONG was awarded $19,000 This funding helps us: 🎸 Purchase guitars, bass, keyboards, djembes, speakers & more 🎤 Stay mobile and bring music directly into communities 🎶 Bring in professional artists to teach the SOUNDS of the NEXT GENERATION This is a huge honour — and a powerful recognition of the work happening right here in Northumberland. Because of this funding, we’ve just wrapped an incredible round of in-school programming: ✨ 136 students 🏫 4 rural schools 🎶 SONGtech, choir, and drumming 🎤 Led by 6 amazing local Teaching Artists By bringing music directly into classrooms, we’re reaching every student where they are — removing barriers and making sure rural youth have the same opportunities to create, perform, and belong.
