SONGtech
Creating and connecting with music technology
In the SONGtech program, students in Grades 7 & 8 work with experienced professionals who are passionate about youth well-being and the arts. Students use new technologies to enjoy and create music, all while having fun, connecting with peers, and being part of a caring community.
No previous musical experience or training is required, just an interest in music and music technology, and a desire to develop this passion.
SONGtech students have the opportunity to talk about and listen to music, compose their own beats, learn user-friendly audio technology programs on iPads, and engineer, and mix, live and recorded music.
In addition to helping students to increase their musicianship, the program also aims to help students develop resilience, teamwork skills, problem-solving and coping skills, and to increase their self-awareness and understanding of others.
