In School Program

High Quality Music Instruction in Schools Across Northumberland
Supported by the Ontario Arts Council

Our mission is simple but urgent: every rural Canadian child deserves a voice through music.

Isolation and resource strain that are limiting music education mean rural students are missing out on essential Canadian culture experiences. And because music education predicts multiple long-term socioeconomic life achievements, rural students risk being left behind.

SONG is closing this gap, developing the next generation of musicians, educators, and engaged citizens who will shape the cultural fabric of their communities. Using our mobile classroom unit supplied by Cobourg Rotary, SONG transforms regular classrooms into a music-making spaces.

SONG Teaching Artists fill critical gaps in music education by training educators, providing curriculum-aligned resources, and delivering high-impact workshops Northumberland students.

Our In School Program instills pride in local culture and fosters community belonging.

"My daughter loves it and is so excited when it happens (like today)!"
