PORT HOPE, ON โ€” Aug 30, 2025 โ€” Acclaimed Canadian vocalist Holly Cole will take the stage at the Capitol Theatre on Friday, November 1, 2025, in a rare and intimate performance to benefit SONG (Sounds of the Next Generation). The concert is presented in partnership with the Port Hope Jazz Festival, with presenting sponsorship from Kawartha Metals and venue sponsorship from the Capitol Theatre.

Coleโ€™s performance will feature music from her latest album Dark Moon, her 13th studio release, out now on Rumpus Room/Universal Music Canada.

โ€œWeโ€™re thrilled to be bringing one of Canadaโ€™s most distinctive and legendary voices to Port Hope,โ€ says Miles Bowman, Executive Director of SONG. โ€œPartnering with the Port Hope Jazz Festival makes this an even more special night. Our audiences are in for something remarkable.โ€

Dark Moon brings together Coleโ€™s longtime collaborators and fresh musical guests for a dynamic recording that balances spontaneity with signature jazz elegance. The album includes contributions from pianist Aaron Davis, bassist George Koller, drummer Davide Direnzo, saxophonist John Johnson, and guest performances by guitarist Kevin Breit, harmonica great Howard Levy, and the three-part vocal harmony trio The Good Lovelies.

A New Chapter in Holly Coleโ€™s Musical Journey

โ€œI really wanted this album to embrace the spirit of spontaneity,โ€ says Cole. โ€œMany of the arrangements fell together as we played them. What we end up hearing on this record is the moment when we discover what we love about the song.โ€

Songs on the album draw from the New American Songbook, including works by Peggy Lee, Marty Balin, Hal David, Burt Bacharach, and Johnny Mercer, all reinterpreted with Coleโ€™s trademark blend of sultry vocals, sharp arrangements, and genre-defying style.

The first single, No Moon At All, features an up-tempo reimagining of the Peggy Lee classic and a standout harmonica solo by two-time Grammy winner Howard Levy.

Supporting Music for the Next Generation

Proceeds from this event support SONGโ€™s award-winning free music education programs for youth in Northumberland County. Every ticket sold helps ensure that children and teens have access to the power of musicโ€”regardless of their familyโ€™s financial circumstances.

โ€œThis event directly supports our mission to bring high-quality music education to local youth,โ€ says Bowman. โ€œHollyโ€™s support of SONG means the world to us and to the hundreds of kids we serve every year.โ€
