SONG has received a major three-year stabilizing grant from the Azrieli Foundation—Canada’s largest non-corporate foundation and a national leader in arts and education funding.
This generous investment of $75000!! — $25,000 per year for three years — will provide SONG with a strong foundation to expand and stabilize our free music programming for children and youth across Northumberland County.

🎶 Why This Matters
For a small, rural organization like SONG, this is a game-changer.
Thanks to the Azrieli Foundation, SONG can:
- Plan for the future with confidence and stability
- Expand our reach into more schools and communities
- Hire and retain top-tier local Teaching Artists
- Invest in rural arts infrastructure
- Ensure families know that SONG is here to stay
This grant also marks a new direction for the Azrieli Foundation—one that extends its commitment to excellence in the arts to rural communities like ours. It reflects their belief in what we’ve always known: that rural students deserve the same access to high-quality arts education as anyone else in the country.
💬 From Our Leadership
“This isn’t just about music—it’s about identity and culture creation. This kind of support shows everyone in Northumberland that rural music programs are an important foundation to keeping our community healthy and connected.”
— Miles Bowman, Executive Director
“This funding gives us the confidence to keep developing young talent at home. It tells our students, families, and communities: SONG is here for the long haul.”
— Lucas Marchand, Artistic Director
What’s Next
This multi-year support means that SONG can continue to build a vibrant arts ecosystem in Northumberland—one where young people find their voice, build lasting skills, and help shape our local culture through music.
We are deeply grateful to the Azrieli Foundation for their belief in our work and their commitment to equity in the arts.
