Lucas Marchand
Artistic Director
Lucas moved from his hometown of Victoria, BC to Toronto in 2005 and began singing tenor with the Nathaniel Dett Chorale. During his tenure, The Chorale had the distinction of performing at Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration in Washington DC. As Lucas established himself as a performer and teacher, he frequently traveled to Los Angeles to study vocal pedagogy with renowned instructor Seth Riggs (Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross etc.). After completing a Master's degree in music education at the University of Toronto in 2011 he joined Cadence, Canada's premier a cappella group. Cadence maintained a busy international touring schedule until the onset of COVID including performances with Bobby McFerrin, David Clayton-Thomas, and Take 6.
In June 2022 Lucas began a new role as the Artistic Director of Sounds of the Next Generation (SONG). He is thrilled to be facilitating fun, free music programming to students in Northumberland County and help grow SONG’s presence and impact in the community he now calls home.
